Murder of Minorities in America: “The White Man’s Burden” | Racism News

Once again, innocent members of another “minority community” have become victims of gun violence in the United States. On March 16, a series of mass shootings terrorized three spas in Atlanta, Georgia. Eight people, including six Asian women, were murdered. A suspect, a white man in his twenties, was arrested. Mass protests across the United States have drawn worldwide attention to another facet of incurable racism in this country.

The model is now fully established. A murderous, self-identified “white man” takes readily available assault weapons and lashes out murdering Asians, African Americans, Arabs, Muslims, Jews, Sikhs – ethnically cleansing “their country” of people they consider undesirable.

The model began a long time ago, when the Spaniards who “discovered” this land began to slaughter its native inhabitants. It continued with the murderous transatlantic slave trade and the lynching of African Americans. Now it is spreading to other immigrant communities that these criminal “white men” don’t like to see in “their country”.

They want a country “reserved for whites”. Once they get there, they’ll start shooting each other – picking up on their equally racist thugs at Italians, Irish, Germans, Scots, Poles, Scandinavians, Works. “The white man” is the fruit of a criminal imagination.

Let’s take a look at some more recent samples of this “white man’s burden”.

The rolling metaphor of ‘minorities’

On August 5, 2012, US Army veteran and white supremacist Wade Michael Page attacked a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin and shot six people and injured four others, a seventh victim died of his injuries in 2020. He was shot and killed. a policeman outside the temple after the massacre.

On February 10, 2015, Deah Shaddy Barakat, a Syrian-American, his wife Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha and his sister Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, both Jordanians of Palestinian descent, were murdered at their home in Chapel Hill, Carolina. North. They were all students at local universities. Their white neighbor, Craig Stephen Hicks, has been arrested and convicted of the heinous crime and is serving three consecutive life sentences. The US liberal press said the multiple murder was caused by a “parking dispute” and whitewashed its underlying racist causes.

On June 17, 2015, in Charleston, South Carolina, nine African Americans were murdered during a Bible study at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, one of the oldest black churches in the United States. Police later arrested a white supremacist terrorist named Dylann Roof for committing the murderous act. He is currently serving nine consecutive life sentences without parole.

On October 27, 2018, a 46-year-old white man named Robert Gregory Bowers attacked the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh during the Shabbat morning service, killing 11 people and injuring many more. He was arrested and now faces death or a consecutive 535-year federal prison sentence.

You can watch any year and you are unlikely to find one when the United States has been free of violent acts of murder and chaos against so-called “minorities.” If you put all of these minorities together, they make up the majority of Americans – with the exception of the fictitious category of “Whites.”

The burden of barbarism

The root cause of this sustained course of barbaric behavior is an illusion called “the white man” and the “burden” he thinks he carries to civilize the world.

The White Man’s Burden: The United States and the Philippine Islands (1899) is a poem by the famous English racist poet Rudyard Kipling, who made it his mission to civilize the world with barbaric brutality.

“Take the burden of the White Man,” he urged his white compatriots:

Send the best breed you are –
Go bind your sons to exile
To meet the needs of your captives;
Wait in a heavy harness
On the floating and wild folk –
Your new sullen peoples,
Half devil and half child.

Kipling composed this cruel poem (How could a poet be so vicious?) On the occasion of the American invasion of the Philippines. What kind of sick mind is this?

How does it feel to be Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, any kind of Asia, Africa or Latin America, any kind of Jew, Muslim or Sikh in America these days here or on other days? We are all sitting ducks waiting for our turn to be murdered, to help a “white man” unload himself.

The relentless mass violence against Muslims, blacks, Asians, Jews, Sikhs, etc. in the United States, is the mirror image of the wars that the United States is waging around the world, which results in waves of migration to the United States.

American “white men” went abroad to mutilate and murder blacks, browns and Asians. Now they no longer need to go “overseas” because “the stranger” has come to them, so they regularly go hunting in their own neighborhoods.

‘This land is our land’

In a bold and provocative recent book, This Land Is Our Land: An Immigrant’s Manifesto (2019), Suketu Mehta wrote a deeply scholarly defense of migrants and refugees from around the world who roam the world and turn the cruel wheels of predatory capitalism. .

Mehta begins her book with the story of her own grandfather sitting in a park on the outskirts of London when a nasty racist white old man – an avid Rudyard Kipling reader no doubt – walks up to him and waves his head at him. finger to ask to know why he was in “his country”. “Because we are the creditors,” responds Mehta’s beautiful grandfather, who was born in India, worked his whole life in colonial Kenya and retired in London, “We are here, because you are there. were.

We are all here because they were there. Africans are in France, Indians are in UK, Koreans, Vietnamese and Iranians are in USA, Palestinians are in refugee camps, Congolese are in Belgium – travel the world and see us are all the gushing wounds and open scars that European and American barbarism left in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

People from all over the world whose countries have been at the mercy of their colonial and imperial savages travel the world in search of refuge for their families.

Migrants from poor countries to richer climates escape poverty, climate change, endemic violence caused by localized tyrannies and the globalized imperialism of the United States and its European and regional allies. The Chinese and the Russians are not better, they are worse.

In just one statistic, Mehta says the amount of money stolen between 1503 and the early 1800s “would amount to a $ 165 trillion debt that Europe owes Latin America today.” One need only look at this number and grasp its enormity – the total budget US President Joe Biden has in his service to rebuild this dilapidated country is only three trillion.

“How Britain stole $ 45 trillion from India – and lied about it,” Jason Hickel wrote in an essay for Al Jazeera in 2018. He quotes renowned economist Utsa Patnaik from ‘a book published by Columbia University Press in which she calculates that “drained a total of nearly $ 45 trillion from India between 1765 and 1938.”

These staggering numbers are just clues, the tip of the iceberg of the untold human suffering caused by predatory capitalism and racist colonialism, the “white man’s burden” inflicted on the world.

There is no number one in the entire history of the human misery that “the white man” has caused on this ravaged land. There is also no rhetorical quote from American folk singer Woody Guthrie’s 1940 song, This Land is Our Land. This land is not our land. It is the land of the Native Americans. I am writing this essay from the land that belonged to the Lenape Nation upon which Columbia University was ultimately built. I am their uninvited but grateful guest.

“The White Man’s Burden” is not real. It’s a cruel joke. It is a dangerous illusion. It’s an ugly “poem” spat out by a racist English poet and experienced by generations through centuries of gratuitous cruelty around the world, now on stage daily here in the United States.
