2022 C40 Recharge to be Volvo’s first leatherless electric vehicle

Volvo is going all green, the company announced at an online press event Tuesday. The automaker has pledged to only generate electricity by 2030, become fully carbon neutral by 2040 and start selling its vehicles virtually – starting with the recently unveiled 2022 C40 Recharge, a slightly smaller cross version of his XC40 refill Flagship EV product.

The C40 Recharge is essentially an XC40 but like a fastback. It will deliver the ride height that XC40 drivers expect, but with a sleeker, more compact design. The 78 kWh battery will deliver an estimated range of 260 miles with a 0-60 of 4.9 seconds, while reaching an 80% charge in as little as 40 minutes, according to Volvo. Additionally, the C40 Recharge will be the company’s first vehicle to offer not only the Android Auto operating system, as we saw in the company’s Polestar 2 subsidiary, but also the first to feature an interior completely without. leather. The C40 is based on Volvo’s CMA platform, which the company also plans to use for several other upcoming electric vehicle models.

“The C40 Recharge represents the future of Volvo and shows where we are going,” said Henrik Green, Volvo technical director, in a press release. “It’s fully electric, offered online only with a convenient care package, and will be available for quick delivery. Getting a new Volvo has never looked so good. ”

Although dealers are no longer responsible for active sales under Volvo’s new program, the “will remain a crucial part of the customer experience and will continue to be responsible for a variety of important services such as sales, preparation. , delivery and maintenance of cars. ”The company said on Tuesday.

The C40 will go into production later this year, but is available for pre-order online now from Volvo Studios at new York, Milan and Tokyo.
