Google’s latest Digital well-being The addition might just save you from a bruised face – or at least, a bruised ego. Jay Prakash Kamat, XDA and CNET found that Google is rolling out a Heads Up beta feature for Android that reminds you to stop using your phone while you are walking. Take out your device as you walk and you will receive an alert asking you to “look up” and put this device back in your pocket before hitting a lamppost or other pedestrian.
Handymen at XDA First spotted hints of the feature in November, but it wasn’t accessible until now.
Heads Up is so far only available to Pixel users with the latest Digital wellness beta. However, it’s easy to see that it’s one of the more popular tools once it becomes more widely available. Even if the pandemic didn’t usually require more attention, it might make you want to leave your phone alone until you’ve reached your destination.
