Over the past year and more, one of the unorthodox ways to gauge the severity of the pandemic has been to look at a tech giant: Apple. This could change, however. A recent report Says Apple Will Maintain A Mask Mandate In Its Apple Stores In The U.S. Despite The new orientation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which over the past few days has given those vaccinated the green light to remove their masks in most settings.

Bloomberg reported this week that Apple had informed its U.S. stores that their mask warrant and covid-19 procedures would remain in place for now. Apple’s alleged instructions to its stores came soon after the CDC relaxed its recommendations for people vaccinated on Thursday. Nonetheless, Bloomberg said Apple continues to assess health and safety measures. At least for now, it will still take everyone in its stores hide.

Apple told the point of sale that its first the priority was the safety of employees and consumers. The company was one of the first major retailers close its stores in response to the pandemic and has regularly opened them and closing them when cases increase. He has forced everyone to wear masks in his stores throughout the pandemic.

Gizmodo reached out to Apple to confirm Bloomberg’s report on Sunday, but had not received a response at the time of publication. We will make sure to update this blog if we have a response.

The movement announced by Apple stood out when compared to other retail giants such as Walmart, Costco, Trader Joe’s, Publix, and Starbucks, all of which recently announced they are ending mask requirements except where required by state or local guidelines. However, Apple was not the only one to be cautious. USA Today reported this target, Walgreens and Kroger also kept their mask mandates in place, although some of them said they would revise the CDC guidelines.

In view of Apple’s cautious response to the pandemic, its decision to allegedly keeping the mask warrant in its stores is not entirely a surprise. Some experts were baffled by the swiftness of the CDC’s decision, while others still fear anti-vaxxers are lying about their vaccinenation status and endanger others, such as frontline workers and those unable to get vaccinated.

Ultimately, Apple is a private matter and can apply mask warrants on his property if he wishes. Although his actions are not necessarily more reflect the reality of the pandemic, we have other sources for that.
