Dualtron Victor review: for long journeys


Why someone to buy an electric scooter that costs $ 2,700? This is the question I asked myself after a representative from MiniMotors USA suggested that I try the new one. Dualtron Victor. This is also a question that a colleague, who has driven an electric scooter under $ 500, asked me.

After several weeks of piloting… well, I understand. This is the only scooter I have driven that feels like it is do for long hikes. I took it on a 24 mile round trip from Brooklyn to New Jersey, and there was still 30% battery left in the tank. This is probably the greatest distance I have ever walked while standing!

It’s so powerful that it casually climbed steep hills that would have crippled most electric scooters, and its suspension provides a well-cushioned ride. It has a few quirks – and a big downside – but this thing is pretty much perfect.

The Victor arrived at my door in a giant, heavy box. No, I don’t know who Victor is, but I’m glad this electric scooter only takes a few minutes to set up. Tighten the clamp on the stem, then unfold the handlebars and secure them with their respective clamps.

There is a hook at the end of the bridge, so you can clip the handlebar stem when you fold it. It prevents the rod from collapsing when stored and makes it much easier to transport the Victor. Here’s where I should mention my biggest problem: it’s heavy. That’s 73 pounds, which is even more than most electric bikes. Even lifting it to climb a sidewalk is cumbersome. Fortunately, I live in an apartment with a lift. But there was a day the elevator didn’t work and… well, let’s just say the stairwell heard choice words.

It’s impossible to find a comparable scooter with so much range and power at a significantly lighter weight, but that doesn’t mean I won’t complain. If you can succeed in lifting it, it will fit into a safe. It is surprisingly compact when folded.

The Victor is almost fully equipped out of the box. There are front headlights, taillights, and rear and front fenders. (A bell would have been nice.) It also has LEDs to illuminate the underside of the bridge, and the Dualtron branding on the handlebars lights up like an RGB gaming PC. You can use the included remote control to change the colors and lighting patterns if you want.

You’ll need to turn on the power switch below the deck before you can turn on the Victor, via the dashboard on the handlebars at the top right. There is a Mode button here to change the driving data on the screen, and the third button (with a dot on it) will change the speed of the e-scooter. These three speeds will regulate your speed. The first report, for example, limits you to 15 miles per hour.
