Google Cast updates make it easier to transfer audio between devices

Google announced a series of updates during its I / O Developer Conference Today, covering software for all kinds of devices like Phone (s, clothing, foldable and more. One of these platforms is Android TV, and in addition to many developer-centric improvements, the company is also introducing new tools such as Cast Connect, Stream Transfer, and Stream Expansion. These should make things easier to read on Cast devices, once the developers integrate the functionality into their apps.

Cast Connect lets you send content from your phone, tablet, or Chrome browser to an app on Android TV. At this time, if you’re streaming to an Android TV device, it doesn’t target specific apps on a larger screen. It can also allow some control over what you broadcast and possibly interaction with the TV app.

Meanwhile, Stream Transfer will let you move playback between supported devices and Stream Expansion adds speakers to boost what you’re watching or listening to right now. This last feature seems the most useful as it could help those who are hard of hearing or just need a louder sound system by adding more output devices.

To encourage developers to integrate the new tools, Google is now making Android 12 Beta 1 available to television. It also presents the first Google tv emulator running Android 11, as well as Android TV support for its Firebase test lab. The company said some of these features are already available, while the others will be available soon, although it is not yet clear which ones are currently available. With over 80 million monthly active devices using Android TV, there are many people who could potentially benefit from more useful apps and enhancements coming to the platform.
