Google signs cloud deal with SpaceX’s Internet service Starlink

SpaceX will install Starlink ground stations in Google’s data center properties as part of a new agreement between the two companies. The tech giant’s cloud business has partnered with Starlink in a partnership that could last up to seven years, according to CNBC. Together, the two aim to provide corporate clients operating or executing projects outside remote areas with access to Google’s cloud service and Starlink’s satellite internet service in the second half of 2021.

By installing ground stations in Google’s data centers, they enable Starlink satellites to deliver data reliably and with low latency to customers through Google Cloud. As CNBC explains, customer devices will communicate directly with satellites linked to Google’s data centers. They can then quickly run applications in those data centers using Google’s cloud services, with analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning capabilities. Google’s data centers will then send data back to them via Starlink’s satellites.

Last year Microsoft ad that he’s working with SpaceX on a new Azure cloud computing company. Now a source said CNBC that SpaceX would rely on Google’s same data centers for this partnership.

In the announcement from Google and SpaceX, the companies said:

“Google Cloud’s high-capacity private network will support the delivery of Starlink’s global satellite Internet service, providing businesses and consumers with seamless connectivity to the cloud and the Internet, and enabling the delivery of business-critical applications to virtually no one. ‘any place. “

Although the new partners did not confirm it in their announcement, SpaceX would first deploy ground stations in Google’s US data centers. The partnership will grow in the future, however, and lead to Starlink ground stations in Google data centers around the world.
