Cheyenne, Wyoming — Gov. Mark Gordon will formally establish a special team focused on responding to cyber threats and attacks, stressing that strengthening cybersecurity is critical to the safety of Wyoming and its communities signed the presidential decree.
The executive order establishes the Wyoming Cyber Assistance Response Task Force. The team’s mission is to “protect state and local jurisdictions by mitigating the impact of cyber-related events such as incidents and disruptions through prevention, response, and recovery.”
The framework enables state emergency managers and information technology professionals to work with public and private partners to respond to and minimize the impact of negative cyber events in Wyoming.
“It’s important that the state continues to focus on improving the cybersecurity of Wyoming residents and the state’s critical infrastructure,” Gordon said. “Uncertain times call for increased vigilance. The CARE team confirms that they are taking all necessary steps to address cyber threats, and we are happy to formalize their efforts. I am happy.”
The CARE team includes representatives from the Wyoming Chief Information Officer and Enterprise Technology Services Division, the Wyoming Information Analysis Team, the Wyoming Bureau of Criminal Investigation Computer Crime Team, the Wyoming Department of Homeland Security and the Wyoming National Guard. The CARE team will be responsible for updating and implementing the Wyoming Cyber-Disruption Response Plan, a common framework for identifying and responding to technological threats that mirrors the federal model.
The executive order directs the CARE team to review cybersecurity and other technology-based threat information, assess vulnerabilities, and submit findings and recommendations to the Governor’s Office regarding the protection of state resources. there is We will also build partnerships with relevant federal agencies.
