If you sometimes have trouble expressing yourself properly in text messages and social media posts, Grammarly wants to help. The company’s mobile keyboard, available via its iPhone, iPad and the Android app, now goes analyze the tone of your writing to give you a better idea of how you are dating.
This is a feature that was available in Grammarly Online Editor for a while, but now you can take it anywhere. Tap the green “ G ” icon at the top of the keyboard, and you’ll see a breakdown of how you can sound to someone reading your message, with emoji there to make things clearer. The tone detector works by analyzing factors like your word choice and punctuation – although you must write at least 150 characters before you can do its job.
You can activate the function by going to the configuration menu. This might cause some people to overthink their posts, but if it also helps them avoid misunderstanding, it’s a good compromise.
