Home office setup guide: the best equipment for working at home (2021)

Long before I was forced to stay indoors last spring, I spent most of my time… indoors. I build a pc back in college (with the help of friends), and since then I have continued to perfect my home office setup – changing my desk, keyboard, monitor, etc.

When everyone was forced to quarantine because of the Coronavirus pandemicI realized that most people didn’t have a home office like mine. The pandemic is still with us, and while people get vaccinated, it’s increasingly likely that some sort of remote work is here to stay for many people. So, my colleagues privileged enough to work from home, here are some choices that could make this work more bearable. Almost all of the picks here have been tested by the Gear team at WIRED.

Updated April 2021: I added several new things like the seat pad from Cushion Labs and the K3 Ultra-Slim keyboard from Keychron. We have also gone through each section and updated the copy, links and prices and removed obsolete products.
