Large protests have taken place in cities around the world to demand an end to the deadly Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Protesters waved flags and placards saying “Free Palestine” and shouted “Long live the Intifada” or uprising.

Several people also carried signs saying “Not in my name” and “Solidarity with Palestine”.

The Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip entered its seventh consecutive day with airstrikes early Sunday, killing at least 26 Palestinians and injuring dozens more.

The global solidarity marches coincided with Nakba Day, the day Palestinians around the world commemorate the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians amid the establishment of Israel in 1948.

Nakba in Arabic means “disaster”.
