The police spokeswoman said several people had been shot, but did not give an exact number.
Several people were shot dead at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis, United States, and the suspected shooter committed suicide, police said.
Indianapolis Police spokeswoman Genae Cook told reporters on Friday that when police arrived at the scene late Thursday, officers observed an active shooting incident at the facility – a FedEx website on Mirabel Road, Indianapolis.
“We have several people with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds,” Cook said, adding that there were others who were taken to various hospitals in the area.
She added that the shooter was dead.
The facility is located close to the international airport.
Live video from news outlets at the scene showed a crime scene tape in the parking lot outside the facility.
A witness who said he worked at the facility told WISH-TV media that he saw a man with a gun after hearing several shots.
“I saw a man with some kind of submachine gun, an automatic rifle and he was shooting in the open,” Jeremiah Miller said.
The incident occurs at least after four people, including a child, were shot dead and one person injured in a shootout at an office building in California earlier this month.
