WandaVision the writer Jac Schaeffer holds OUT!

At Weekly entertainment The Awardist podcast with Schaeffer explains why a specific scene in Monica Rambeau’s (Teyonah Parris) story had to be cut.

“My speech was mapped to the stages of mourning, it ended up being kind of a reductive thing,” Schaeffer said. “I don’t know if you know it or not, Teyonah, but [Monica] had a therapist on the base, the pop-up base. There were therapy scenes because we in the [writers’] room, were very pro-therapy.

WandaVision remained invested in exploring the effects of grief and trauma. If you’ve watched the series, you know that Monica Rambeau went through a lot to become the hero she is today, and Schaeffer was eager to give audiences access to her psyche with scenes of her speaking to a therapist. Unfortunately, it was deleted due to timing. Schaeffer says, “We were like, ‘Well we’ve got to have a therapist,’ and then we realized there wasn’t a lot of time in the pop-up. [S.W.O.R.D.] based [outside Westview] for Monica to enter her sessions.

Well, that sucks! I hope they get off the stage because I would like to know what’s going on in Monica’s head. This might give us an idea of what will happen when Monica, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Kamala khan (Iman Vellani) get together in the movie Wonders is expected to be released in 2022.
