Star Trek: Picard the fans knew that the show’s third and final season would be a The next generation meeting, featuring characters from the series which featured Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard. But while Brent Spiner had appeared in the previous picard seasonsmany have wondered if season three would find a way to bring it back still like Data, original sound GNT character.
It appears that picard showrunner Terry Matalas was one of those people who thought about this thing– and he was very aware of the importance of character inclusion. “One of the first questions I had to ask myself was:How the hell are you going to make a Star Trek: Next Generation meeting without Data being part of it?” he said in an interview with Collider after this week’s episode, which introduces the “ultimate data,” a multifaceted version of the familiar android. “This character died twice, and you can’t just magically bring him back to life. Something else has to happen. was saved on B-4. Lore is still a suspended chad. What if there was a final android who was almost perfectly human in the manner of Soji or Picard, who could look like Brent Spiner today? What if it was Jekyll and Hyde What if Lore and Data [were] in there with all these other things? Wouldn’t that give Brent Spiner something really interesting to play? And couldn’t that promise a really interesting final Data/Lore story? »
It’s a lot of and if. But when Matalas spoke with Spiner himself, the actor was enthusiastic About these new possibilities for his character. “I took this to Brent thinking he was going to throw it all away, and he was like, ‘Oh, that’s actually really cool. Brent was incredibly collaborative with him, and Brent had ideas that just uplifted him in ways I couldn’t have imagined. In fact, some of the best moments in this story were Brent’s idea.
Star Trek: Picard just past halfway through season three, with new episodes arriving weekly on Paramount+ until the series finale on April 20.
