Over the past few weeks, the Xbox network has had Questions this disconnected players and even prevented them from launching their own games, and now it’s apparently PlayStation’s turn. the PlayStation Network Status Page confirms that there is an outage in progress that will prevent people from signing in or creating accounts.
DownDetector started monitoring reports of issues shortly after 5 p.m. ET, and the status page confirmed issues at 5:41 p.m. that plagued the PS5, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and Web services.
According to some posters on Reddit, the errors mean that they cannot validate the ownership of digital games and launch them, whereas on my console I can launch any game except multiplayer games which require an online connection. It is not known how quickly the issue will be resolved, but we will update this article once there is more information.
As some posters have noted, it’s almost ten years to the day. Sony has confirmed that an already old PSN outage was caused by outside hackers, although there is no indication of anything unusual about this disturbance.
Update (6:40 p.m. ET): Many people report that they can successfully sign in again, even though the PlayStation status page has not yet been updated.
