Police seize around $ 158 million in UK’s biggest crypto seizure

British police have (approximately $ 158 million) of cryptocurrencies as part of a money laundering investigation. London Metropolitan Police said the seizure is the largest of its kind in UK history.

The current world record is linked to the Silk Road dark web market. In 2020, the US Department of Justice Bitcoins, worth around $ 1 billion at the time, Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht had hidden. The Metropolitan Police did not specify the type of cryptocurrency recovered and did not reveal exactly how they tracked the money. These two amounts could be eclipsed by the in Bitcoin which is missing following the disappearance of two brothers who founded a cryptocurrency exchange in South Africa.
