Comedian Robin Thede (former host of the BET talk show The Rundown with Robin Thede) and creator of A Black Lady Sketch Show Teams Up With Amazon Studios For New Horror Movie, Kill. Thede wrote the screenplay and will produce it through his production company, For Better or Words.
Variety described Kill as Shaun of the Dead meets Girls trip as he follows four friends who are Spelman College dropouts living in Atlanta. When they meet to celebrate at a homecoming event at the Spelman House, instead of getting up, they have to survive an Atlanta that is overrun by Zombies.
With the astronomical success of A Black Lady Sketch Show, Amazon’s announcement follows Thede sign a global agreement with Warner Bros. under the banner of his production company. As part of this multi-year agreement, Thede will create television programs for all WB subsidiaries, including HBO Max.
Movies like this are the kind of content I’ve been waiting for! It’s dope that Robin Thede develops his own space in the horror genre.
