Samsung to use drone deliveries for Galaxy products in Ireland

Some Samsung customers in Ireland will receive their orders through a courier that can take flight and reach them within minutes. The tech giant has associates with Manna Drone Delivery to make drone delivery an option for Irish customers, provided they purchase the latest Galaxy devices. Eligible models include the S21 Ultra, the Galaxy Buds Pro, the Galaxy tab s7, the Galaxy Watch 3 and the Galaxy a Series. In addition, orders must be placed through Samsung Irish website, and the option only available to customers based in a city called Oranmore at this time.

Manna uses custom aerospace-grade drones that can fly at altitudes of 164-262 feet and speeds in excess of 60 km / h (37 mph). The company says it’s fast enough for a drone to reach Oranmore customers within three minutes of leaving the dispatch center. Manna worked with Tesco and other local businesses to deliver groceries, books and medicine to people in the area. Its drones will facilitate a similar end-to-end contactless experience for Samsung customers.

“A superior customer experience is at the heart of what we do and with this new service we are embracing what we believe to be the future of retail,” said Eamonn Grant, Head of Online Samsung Ireland. “In today’s environment, there is no better time to deliver a contactless alternative to ‘click and collect’ and we are so excited to partner with Manna to make it happen.”

Although availability is currently limited, companies say they are “keen to expand this service nationwide in the future.”
