‘Slime Rancher’ Sequel Coming to Xbox Series X and PC in 2022

Microsoft’s E3 2021 event had its share of surprise suites, but it is perhaps one of the most … adorable. Monomi Park has revealed this Slime Breeder 2 come to Xbox x series/S and computer (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) in 2022. You’re still running around an open world gathering relentlessly cute slimes of various shapes, but now you’ll be exploring a new land (Rainbow Island) full of “old tech”. It’s a very, very nice low pressure “life simulator” game, in other words.

The visuals have of course received an upgrade – in addition to 4K support, you’ll see these slimes in vivid detail thanks to dynamic lighting and more advanced effects shaders. You can also expect “spectacularly unpredictable” physique as the creatures bounce off each other.

This may be a bigger deal than it first appears. The original Slime Breeder has racked up more than 10 million players since his debut in 2017, making him a prime contender for a sequel. Notably, however, there is no mention of the PlayStation, Mac, or Linux versions this time around. Monomi is clearly hoping that his focus on Xbox and Windows will be enough to ensure strong sales for the sequel, at least for now.
