(SIE) has reclaimed the rights to another upcoming game from a group of industry veterans. It will release the first game from Firewalk Studios, whose founders previously worked on .
“For our team, the opportunity to create new worlds and inspire more incredible moments for players around the world is the fire and ambition that drives us forward,” wrote Tony Hsu, Firewalk Studio Director in a . “The PlayStation team have a deep love and respect for supporting games, and some of the best skills and abilities in the world to help make big ambitions a reality.”
There aren’t many details available on the game yet, but it will be an original multiplayer title. Hsu didn’t mention in his post where and when you can play it, but the game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console.
Firewalk is under the umbrella of ProbablyMonsters, which “builds sustainable game studios through a people-centered culture”. The studio was formed in 2018 and is led by Hsu, who was general manager and senior vice president of destiny at Activision; game director Ryan Elli, a former creative director at Bungie; and executive producer Elena Siegman, who worked as a producer on Guitar Hero II and Bioshock Infinite as good as destiny. Other team members worked on Call of Duty, , Mass Effect and Halo.
Last month, Sony with Haven, a new studio run by Jade Raymond, veteran Assassin’s Creed producer and ex-head of Stadia Games and Entertainment, for an unannounced match.
SIE CEO Jim Ryan said in an interview today with (Going through ) that the company has “quietly but steadily invested in high quality games for PlayStation, and we will ensure that the PS5 generation has more dedicated software than ever before.” The deals with Firewalk and Haven appear to align with this strategy, and Ryan has hinted that SIE has other deals in the works. Ryan also noted that SIE had not ruled out buying more studios to join outfits like Insomniac and Naughty Dog at .
