We’re still ruminating on all of Apple’s announcements at WWDC 2021 earlier this week. Namely, why will macOS be supported on some machines, but not others? It’s not an Intel chip versus an Apple chip – although some features are only supported on the local M1 – but the company’s reasoning to remove old hardware when it can’t offer the same experience sounds a bit hollow this time around.
Apple
Dan Cooper Explain that there are devices on both sides of the divide with similar specs: The late 2014 Mac Mini can run it, but the early 2014 MacBook Air cannot. Both have the same chip, RAM and GPU. Apple is suffering here because it does a remarkable job of offering support on all of its iPhones. The incoming iOS 15 will work on an iPhone 6S from 2015 – Android rarely comes close to software support and updates. With (mostly) more expensive PCs and laptops, there’s an argument for Apple to offer longer update windows, if the machines can handle them.
Meanwhile, at E3 2021, Ubisoft Forward will debut later today at 3 p.m. ET. We will report all major game announcements and have our own post-show chat on our Youtube channel. (We’ll also be live from the Xbox showcase tomorrow!)
It will also be TMA’s last Saturday edition for a while. We are looking for new directions for our Engadget newsletters, but rest assured that we will always send out these letters every day of the week. My colleague and friend Richard Lawler, who has helped produce and lead this project for the past five years, is leaving me Committed to new challenges after 16 breathtaking years of contributing to the site in one way or another. He was my international editorial support network when I was working unusual hours in Japan, destroyed my puny subtitles and usually just been about every day i worked here. Good luck rLaw, I will miss you.

Should you buy a high-end laptop that runs entirely on AMD? The Strix G15 Advantage Edition shows what is possible when you pair AMD’s latest Ryzen processors with its powerful new Radeon 6000M graphics. It can outperform NVIDIA’s fastest mobile GPUs, as long as you don’t use ray tracing. And best of all, the G15 Advantage is less expensive than comparable systems.

It’s not ‘Battlefield V.’
OF
The next battlefield title is a huge sandbox title in the near future called Battlefield 2042. And clearly, the developers hope this one will help gamers forget everything. Battlefield V.
Ready for the backdrop of the spooky world? Battlefield 2042 takes place in a near-future world ravaged by climatic disasters, leading to the most serious refugee crisis in human history. The displaced are recruited to fight in a world war fought by – surprise, surprise – the United States and Russia. We now know that Battlefield 2042 has three main modes: All-Out Warfare, Hazard Zone (the flavor of battle royale), and a third mystery experience still in development at DICE LA.
His predecessor, Battlefield V, was buggy, skinny, and emphasized single-player content at a time when battle royale was reaching its peak. He missed the boat. How will be 2042 stack? Continue reading.

While automaker Elon Musk is still in the process of launching the Roadster and Cybertruck, it’s ready to start shipping a new, more capable version of the Model S. Going from Ludicrous mode, this sporty electric vehicle goes to Plaid thanks to to a three-motor configuration which, along with other improvements, such as a new heat pump and radiator, is able to cycle repeatedly at high speed. According to Musk, when it comes to the Plaid’s 0-60 MPH in under two seconds capacity, “This car can do it over and over again and it doesn’t run out of steam.”
The Tesla event was also an opportunity to show off the redesigned elements of each new Model S and Model Y. This includes the PS5-caliber infotainment system, which can run Cyberpunk 2077 at 60 fps, significantly improved rear seats, a steering yoke and the gear lever that is not there. But the Plaid was the star of the show, and it’s available for purchase if you’ve got around $ 130,000 to spare and can expect Tesla to ramp up production over the next few months. Continue reading.
“We are in harmony. “
Five years late at the party, Overwatch finally offers crossplay. Yes, you can get beaten by your friends who are playing on PC while you are playing on your Switch. Just kidding (halfway), but this will ensure that all Overwatch players can ally themselves with their friends, regardless of the platform.
There is one caveat: In order to use the feature, you will need to create a Battle.net account if you don’t already have one and link it to your Xbox, PSN, or Nintendo account. This is something Blizzard will now require from Overwatch players whether or not they plan to take advantage of cross-play support. Unfortunately, any collectible content (costumes, emotes, etc.) that you earn on one system will not transfer to another platform.
And regarding my point about getting beaten by Mouse Carriers: Blizzard says that, by default, console players will only be compared to other console players. If you want to play with / against people on PC, you will have to intentionally group together with other players on PC. Continue reading.
Say hello to the Maverick pickup.
Ford
Ford said its plans for electrified vehicles were expanding. Despite the hijacking of the name of a ’70s car that most people under 40 have already forgotten, the Maverick is aimed directly at people who want something more efficient but without the hefty price tag and need for ‘a place to hook up. The base price of the Maverick is $ 21,495. , which will bring home a front-wheel drive hybrid truck said to have an EPA rating of 40 mpg for city driving and up to 500 miles of range on a gas tank.
