You don’t really need a desktop. I bought her M1 iMac a few years ago and ended up giving it to my daughter. I have her 12.9 iPP and it does almost everything I need.
But I miss the big screen and mouse (I know you can use a mouse on your iPad, but when I asked about it, it wasn’t the same).
You will also have the urge to buy things. It may sound terrible, but it’s the truth. Technology, especially Apple technology, is my only splurge.
