After playing bungee jumping over the Grand Canyon in 2018, Will Smith has a decidedly less ambitious goal for his next YouTube Original series: to show us how he got in shape as a middle age. Best shape of my life will be a six-part unscripted show that will debut this year, covering “the fun, funny, inspiring, insanely adventurous and deeply entertaining story of Smith challenging himself to improve every aspect of his fitness,” according to YouTube. Along the way he will chat with athletes, scientists and many, be Will Smithbecause it encourages the public to be healthier.
Of course, it’s certainly easy for a wealthy celebrity to get in shape when they have enormous resources, free time, and connections with some of the best coaches in the world … I just hope Smith keeps the show rooted. . As with other YouTube Originals, Alicia Keys will star in a four-part documentary about her life and inspirations, while Masego will explore the world of public health and how race and class affect its impact, including Hairdressing salon medicine.
During its Brandcast event today, YouTube revealed that it saw a 25% increase in viewership in the first quarter (compared to last year). This is not, however, a huge surprise. YouTube, more than any other video service, is a virtually endless source of content. And with the pandemic still raging, it makes sense that more people are spending time with it. Personally, watching YouTube clips has started to take up the time I would typically spend watching a new Netflix series or movie. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the reality for many others as well.
