Your favorite mobile apps can also run in a web browser

More apps than you may have realized that they are available on the web as well as on your phone, syncing with your handset to give you access to all the same data, files and conversations through the web browser of your choice.

It can be useful in all kinds of ways. For starters, that means you have a lot more screen space to work with – content is sprawled out on your desktop monitor rather than being confined to the dimensions of a smartphone screen.

Access to a keyboard and mouse is also important. This means you can process incoming messages much faster than on your phone, so you never have to fall behind on a group chat again.

Opening these apps on the web also means you don’t have to search for your phone every time a new notification pops up – you can just manage whatever’s happened from your desktop or laptop.

If you find these perks appealing, here are some of the more well-known apps with little-known web versions (we won’t be covering apps that are obviously available on the web and mobile, like Gmail and Twitter).

There’s no need to lean over your phone to feed your WhatsApp messages and group chats, as you can view them in your web browser as well, as long as you have your phone handy to set it up. You get more space to see your chats and access to a physical keyboard so typing is faster as well.

Head toward WhatsApp Web to get started and you will be presented with a QR code. Open WhatsApp on your phone, then tap Settings, WhatsApp Web / Office and Link a device (on iOS), or press the three dots then WhatsApp Web and Link a device (on Android) to display the QR code scanner and log in.

All your conversations are in sync, complete with contact pictures and read receipts (if you’ve enabled them). Click the three dots and then click Settings to configure key web app options, including notification settings and web app theme.
